Raw AIS data from the global merchant fleet is continuously collected by ShipAtlas, utilizing data from numerous AIS satellites, terrestrial senders, and dynamic AIS sources. The team invests significant effort in processing and refining this data to ensure high quality information for users.
Vessels are categorized into types, allowing users to customize their viewing preferences based on vessel segments and sub-segments. Searching for vessels by name, IMO or MMSI numbers, port names, or specific criteria such as dimensions and year built is made easy through the app.
The sea route calculator feature enables users to plan routes efficiently with detailed estimations such as ETA, distance, time at sea, and bunker consumption. Furthermore, users can create and monitor vessel lists tailored to their preferences in real-time.
Additional functionalities include setting notifications for vessels and ports, locating nearby vessels within a 10 km radius, accessing AIS voyage history, and viewing updated marine information including port activities, tides, weather conditions, ice data, and piracy zones.
ShipAtlas also offers various map layers such as economic zones, Polar Codes, Load Lines, ECA/SECA zones, among others. Users can explore canal restrictions, monitor vessels at anchorage, review port activities, and check real-time bunker prices in over 5,200 ports through the app.
